….was a success! The Philippine leg of the much-awaited WordCamp 2008 by all bloggers around the country was held yesterday at CSB. It felt like I was back to school cause during the Breakaway sessions, we went to 3 different classrooms to listen to the guest speakers on their topics. My favorite breakaway session would be the ‘Organizing & Optimizing Your WordPress Blog’. The other sessions we went to were the ‘Creating WordPress Themes & CSS Power’ and ‘WordPress as a CME/CMS‘. I wished I also went to ‘Video Blogging with WordPress’ and ‘Blogging & Journalism’ sessions, some of my friends got to watch those.

It felt like we (my friends) were the only ‘teenagers’ on yesterday’s WordCamp. I didn’t see anyone around our age, though there were some 18-year old’s (like me) when I saw a list but still, majority of the bloggers are ‘adults’. I had fun and I learned new things about WordPress! That was the point of going to that show, besides spending quality time with my classmates/bloggers and meeting my hostee and meeting Utakgago (okay I only realized right now that HE’s ‘Utakgago’, rofl). A lot of people brought their laptops with them, and have I mentioned that it was FUN looking at their laptops because most of them were at their Plurk sites? I saw one laptop with the Twilight layout on it, lololol. Food was yummy, Chowking!

Meeting Matt Mullenweg was surreal, felt like I met a celebrity. :worthy: During Matt’s ‘The Future of WordPress’ talk, starting with a presentation called ‘State of the Word’ (COOL!), and on the Future proper, he gave us a preview of what WordPress 2.7 is going to look like. It still looks the same (in terms of COLOR, haha) but there are new features, I like how every WP function can be easily accessed. After the show, Campers got to have a photo-op with Matt Mullenweg and each camper got the chance to have a one-on-one talk with him. I was not supposed to have a photo with him, but my friends almost pushed me infront of him, I’m just lucky I had something to say and it was the truth!

Me: I’ve been using WordPress for 4 years now (well it IS true, when I started So Stellar I was using WP already.)
Matt: Oh! Really! *says something I can’t remember *
Me: Can I have a a photo with you?

And poof, about 2 cameras were infront of us… HAHAHA. After that, I said thanks (of couse) and gave others a chance with the photo op. After 1 guy, I seem to still be infront of him.. my friends were still holding the camera and making gestures that I should have another shot with him and he asked me if I want to have another photo and I’m like ‘sure sure, yes’. The 2nd photo turned out better than the first one, phew! I heard him say during the ‘Powwow’ segment to tag his photos that we took using our cameras with his name on it.. how do you do that? Is that even possible? Hahahaha..

It was a very nice experience that I never thought would be even possible. Just thinking that I… got to meet the person who made WordPress! *nerdy moment* I didn’t go the afterparty because it’s too late and I was carrying a lot of stuff already it made me feel tired. I won an umbrella during the raffles. ) One of my friends won a Google goody bag and I think Utakgago won a domain from .ph! NIIIICEEE!

Some photos from the event. I took a hundred photos, but most of them are just my friends.. who wants to see them except for us right? ) They’re on my Multiply, lol. It’s time consuming to post photos here the pretty way, haha I have to make thumbnails for each photo. Oh well. :whistle:

I’m back to school tomorrow! 2nd term of my soph year. After Monday I have 2 days of no classes, haha. I sure hope tomorrow will be fun. My birthday is so so so near, but I don’t know how to celebrate it.. I don’t even have plans of treating anyone. :hmph: Not that I’m selfish or anything, but I don’t want to stress myself .. hehe. Later days!

Wordcamp Philippines: Are You One of Us?

After reading Joni’s post about the upcoming WordCamp Philippines 2008 organized by the Mindanao Bloggers this September 06, 2008, I just had to do my research.

I found out that this event is going to be held at my school, De La Salle – College of St. Benilde (Taft Avenue, Manila) at the Augusto – Rosario Gonzales Theater (which is located on the 5th floor of the main building, if I may add). And even more cooler, the event day falls under my term break! Perfect timing, great! Hahaha, so without any further hesitation I looked for the registration link and poof I was on my way to getting to an event that’s all about WordPress! Web Developing as well, hahaha!

I invited some of my friends to attend as well, I hope they will come! As much as I love to go to the event, I wouldn’t want to learn all these new stuff alone. May I encourage you, then? And just in case you, my dear reader, is curious.. Non-WordPress users can also come, Non-Bloggers can come as well! But where do you fit in? If you’re a web developer, the event is also going to tackle on Web Developing stuff so there you go.

Oh, oh!! I heard Matt Mullenweg, the creator of WordPress is going to be there!!! Lol. Geekery moment!11!111!!!

I hope this event won’t be as boring as Graphika Manila ’07. Sorry to say but it really bore me. Okay at first but me and my friend couldn’t wait to get out. But I wanted to see the presentation of this one graphic design company who was responsible for Pupil’s Set Me Apart music video so I stayed behind when my friend left early, rofl. I can’t even remember the name of the company anymore — screw me. No, I don’t know if I’m going to attend GM ’08.

I barely attend blog gatherings on real life so this’ll be my very first! Hoping to have fun.. and be supported with my friends and *cough*Blockmates, school friends*cough* since it’s gonna be held on our school.

First semester just ended and here I am enjoying my Term break! Unfortunately it won’t be for long, it’s only up to September 11 and I’ll go back to school after that. Sorry for the lack of updates btw, it seems that there’s been a problem with my accessibility to the site and to its subdomains. I couldn’t get into my WP, Enthusiast and to my hostees’ sites for the past few weeks, some problem regarding my DSL connection since I’m using the it via wireless connection .

So anyway for my birthday plan, we’re supposed to leave for Thailand tomorrow and stay there until September 9. Then on the day itself, watch Switchfoot! Remember my previous blog entry? They’re going here on ~~my birthday~~ September 10! Lucky me, ahahaha. But I hear that Pupil’s gonna have their album launch on the same day as well, so I might have to re-think about Switchfoot.. Anyone interested in purchasing my tickets? They’re good seats I think, reserved A19-A20 seats! Just at the back of the moshpit.. good, yes? On September 15, I’ll have a ‘party’ at our house, I’m trying to spread the word right now.. hope it’ll be successful at least. I can’t get a ‘known’ band even if I want to simply because the venue would just be at our house and I’m embarrassed (sorry), and I can’t afford them! Tsk tsk. I wanted Pupil pa naman, hehe.

Also, I got 2 out of 8 of my subject Course Cards.. I’m satisfied with it, though I have 2.0′s, at least I didn’t get a 1.0 or worse a ‘R’ (for repeat). Hehehe I got 2.5 for Filipino, and 3.0 for our Human Factors in Design subjects. I’ve yet to find out the grades for the rest of the remaining subjects because I can’t claim them tomorrow because we’ll be out of town. xD Hopefully, it’s a ‘good enough’ grade, but not the type that won’t make me a Dean’s Lister =)) . I’d rather get any grade BUT 1.5 or lower than that..

Btw, I opened up a Photoblog account, basically it’s like any other blog but more pictures than words. But when it comes to me, it’s always words before pictures, or just words. Am usually lazy to upload one by one that’s why I never start one, but due to my procrastination, I decided to make one. I promised myself I’d update it with at least one picture, but I forgot to put something on it yesterday so I broke the promise myself ) . Besides the fact that I’ve upgraded my WordPress to the latest version, nothing much has been going on with my life, really.

I’m absent from school today, felt like I needed a break, well I should’ve been absent last Monday but we had our practicum at Greenwich (not fun, btw) for 2 days, so now is the time for that break. Intrams and Cheering competetions are over, we bagged the Overall Champions award from the intrams and won Champions at the Cheering competetion — which I thought we didn’t really deserved, but maybe it’s just me. I mean we only had one week to practice and looking back, it’s quite obvious that we didn’t prepared that well for it. Everything was such a mess, our whole cheering presentation was exposed to the whole school during practices, whilst the previous senior batches never showed theirs… and we did, which I thought was very odd. We’re the only Senior batch that actually exposed our presentation to the whole world, and we still won the whole thing.

Ho hum pig’s bum.. I recieved 2/4 Thank you letters from the college universities that I applied. To be quite honest, I’m getting irritated by it, I wouldn’t be if I haven’t checked my status online when the results came out. When the third letter comes, I won’t reading it anymore, it would probably say the same thing again. My last hope is getting into DLS College of St. Benilde (yep, THAT school infront of DLSU — another school that I didn’t get in), 2 of my classmates who took the test there passed (I checked their names, it’s easy to check their status, hmm), yet there’s a big percentage of them not graduating because of their bad behavior at school. The bad thing is, they’re in the same course that I applied. And I don’t want to have any communication with them after highschool, don’t get me wrong — everyone hates them. They’re bad and let me tell you, you don’t want to cross paths with them. I know that you get ‘Blockmates’ or ‘Block section’ in college, but there’s still a possibility that I would see those two in CSB. Ack, why am I even saying this? There’s no assurance that I would get in that school anyway, but it’s my last hope or I go to a less “you know what” kind of college. My dad wants me to go to DLSU and after 2 sems, according to him, I move to DLSU — if that’s even possible.

I’m on hiatus from going to gigs as well. Just in time that the bands I love doesn’t have that much gigs too, lol. Oh well maybe I’ll get back to the ‘habit’, next year? I do miss taking photographs of them and posting them on my dA account, lol. Oh yeah, I updated my deviantArt account, mostly shots from gigs, they’re good, I promise *fake smile*.

Jigoku Shoujo (Girl from Hell — Animax/Hell Girl) is so addicting! I’m hooked even though it airs every 11 PM here, thank God for Youtube, .

Finally got my Rivermaya layout up, phew! That sure took days to fix the whole thing, it’s based on CSS. I tried to make a CSS-based layout because of Lindsey, she makes them look cool and I got jealous.. So, I checked the sites that she reccomended to me and voila!

I hope the image loads fast to some of you? I optimized it, like Lindsey suggests me to do. Lol. Yay, and best of all this layout is centered! First time to do a centered layout.. I feel so proud of myself. HAHAHA. Well, I’m also planning to bring back the tagboard again, the only reason I removed it was cause a lot of people were posting in there instead of commenting on my entries. That makes me sad, but we’ll see.

Our exams got moved on Monday (tomorrow), I haven’t really study and it’s super late. So wish me luck tomorrow. I am SO sorry I haven’t commented back on your sites, I probably have like 20+ sites to comment on, I swear I’ll get back to them.

Randoms: Shit, I feel like it’s the biggest responsibility to manage + make a band site. Man, D… I sure hope your band will like it. Yeah, you’re looking at the person who’s going to make and manage ****l’s official website. Worthless confession as I didn’t even mentioned the band name, . Oh well, it’ll be a surprise, plus, if you don’t like the new design, atleast I won’t be blamed, ROFL. Haha.

PS: You Had Me & Hello’s soundtrack makes me cry. *sigh* Geez.
