In Pieces

Well, I’d have to start somewhere if I really wanted to come back to blogging, right? :D

I guess I’m not like the usual blogger who comes back from hiatus showing off a new layout. I just can’t make one right now, and this comeback is rather spur of the moment, totally unplanned. My last term as a 2nd year student is ending in 2 weeks (at most), after that, you may expect to hear something new from me and see a new look here.

If I fail to provide you guys with a new layout and recent posts after 2 weeks, you may drop me a line (find my email here, its hard to miss) and complain that I’m such an ass for making false promises. :))

So why did I bring this back on such a short notice? I needed to make site sample screencaps for a brochure I’m making for a mock company in my Desktop Publishing subject. That and, I just thought it was perfect reason to turn off the maintenance mode. Hehe! Actually, I was still hesitating with turning it off but I just said to myself “its now or never.” And there you go!

TO-DO LIST FOR FINALS:
Radio Drama for SONDESN subject
DESKPUB company portfolio and brochure
DESNCON “SDA: Multimedia Arts” logo concepts portfolio

Basically I’m trying to accomplish these before the holy week ends. The 2nd task, I’m trying to get it done before Wednesday next week because the printing shops might be closed by then for the holidays and I need to pass it by April 13.

See you around friends, welcome me back! I see that I’ve lost 20 followers, or maybe all of them from the RSS reader. Lol.

LATER DAYS!!

PS: My domain’s expiring and I thought I wouldn’t be able to save it cause I thought I didn’t have enough funds on my PayPal, turns out I have. And now there’s no way this site is leaving the Internet world. Hehe. Just thought I’d share this with you guys.

Impenetrable packaging issues

HURRAH! SO-STELLAR HAS REACHED 10K HITS! :yay:

Wala lang. I was browsing around Amazon a while ago and noticed that they’ve invented a new packaging system which looks hella easier than the normal packaging that products have. They call it the “Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging”, it’s the first thing you’ll see when you go to their homepage.

Show ▼

I guess I’m one of the many who can relate to this kind of thing. Especially when I got a new HDD for my birthday 2 months ago, the packaging was really a pain in the rear to open. I even got paper cuts cause of the plastic packaging was too hard to pry open, even with the use of a cutter! Took me more than an hour to open it actually, and it wasn’t fully open.. I was only able to cut a smallish horizontal opening and I had to get my hands inside the package to get the product itself. In the end I got a lot of paper cuts and finger cuts. (lol, is there such a thing?) If you read the ‘letter’ at Amazon, I can definitely relate to the ‘Wrap Rage’ term, a lot.

So far, the Frustration-Free packaging feature by Amazon can be found on selected Toys that they have on sale. I hope they implement this on their gadgets as well, especially on products with packaging like the one on my HDD. :P As if I’ll get to buy any gadgets at Amazon.. too expensive and shipping will definitely cost an arm and a leg. Better keep on wishing for a trip to the US to personally shop for gadgets (since they’re cheaper than here in the Philippines).

Have I told you that my latest hangouts on the net are Amazon and eBay? :P Ever since two weeks ago I’ve been looking at some books at Amazon then at eBay to see if they have auctions for it, y’know.. cheaper way to get those ‘wants’. Jullia got me in to go eBay mode again. Sadly the local eBay in my area doesn’t have any of those books on auction. I was also eying the first edition of Heroes graphic novel at both sites to see which one is cheaper, and after sometime of research I gave in and went o buy the one I saw at eBay. Later I figured out that the reason why the one at Amazon is expensive is because it’s the hardbound copy. I don’t really need a hardbound copy and besides I don’t like them in the first place so I went ahead with a softbound cover of the book. Last word I got from the seller was the tracking number of the package so I’m really excited to receive it! Been a long time since I’ve done any transactions online. If only I can sell stuff internationally again that would be fab, I’d love to save up PayPal money again. But because I don’t have exactly a lot of time right now to go back and forth to the post office, that would have to wait.

But I really need money right now. I’m starting to be POOR because of buying art materials (specifically materials for my FREHAND classes) which eventually goes to waste because the prof doesn’t accept it and I’m forced to re-do everything again. Right now I’m procrastinating.. end up doing it when it’ll be too late. I’ve never had financial problems like this before. I get too shy to ask money from my parents now. :|

I also have to plan/find a good place to shoot within this month. For my photography class, our final project is to create a coffee table book consisting of 6 (minimum) photographs, but I believe I can do up to 10. Problem is, I don’t have a definite place to do a shoot. Suggestions, guys? If possible (but you can totally ignore it and just suggest away) I hope it matches my ‘criteria’.

  • Not too far from the city
  • Cheap entrance (someone suggested me at Plurk a place where the entrance is just PHP 5, lol. But I guess I can stretch my entrance budget to 200-350, something like that)
  • Photo-taking is allowed (what’s the use if the place is beyond infinity in terms of beauty but I won’t be allowed to ‘capture’ it, right? There ARE places like that.. I just don’t know where exactly. ;) )
  • There are flowers, lots of them. Or a nature vibe.. like really pretty trees and the like.
  • This marks the end of my post, lol. Oh .. for some reason I wanted to plug my wishlist, hahaha. IDK, maybe if someone who has a lot of money drops by my site and may be in the mood to be generous, please buy me something! Or or, a domain name will do.

In case you might be wondering, I’m not moving out *if* I receive/buy a domain. It looks like Google is never going to give back my PR 3, I have to find out another alternative to earn money through blogging. Wah.

    I tried so hard
    and got so far
    but in the end
    it doesn’t really matter

WOOHOO! Tonight marks the end of my first week of my 2nd term in CSB! :) What’s best way to celebrate it? Treating your friends out to Yellow Cab in the middle of the afternoon.

Saturday afternoon, my friends and I went to Yellow Cab in Taft Avenue. I treated them to pizza and pasta because it was my birthday recently. Actually I did like 2 parties, first with my HS friends last Tuesday and for my CSB friends I treated them today this Saturday. Thought it’d be a perfect day for them since most of us have NSTP classes in the afternoon, excluding Seth cause his NSTP class is on the morning :)) . But thaaaaaanks for waiting till 4 to come with us. :D (Sosyal, you’re mentioned in my blog!) Anyway, so there. We all went to Yellow Cab, we were laughing and as usual we were the loudest people on that place. :P We ate a huge pizza, shared this Chicken Spaghetti, haha. Bonded, laughed, joked about different things. I had fun, most of the people who came were guys and according to Char, it was even, 6 girls and 6 boys but I didn’t notice it. *shrugs off*

Thanks Ian, Char, Princess, Jeanne, Andrew, Reji, Seth, Jacob, Alrenz, Yssa, Goldie and JM (Seth???) for coming! :yay: LOL. Okay I hope next year I can manage to do this again, hahaha. Thanks to my HS batchmates too who came over to my house last Tuesday despite their early classes next day, and for the ’5 special people’ who stayed till 12 to ‘really’ greet me. :) You’re way too many to list, and you know who you all are! :P IDK if you read my blog, probably you don’t. :) >-

Ooh! And much thanks to everyone who greeted me on my Multiply and Friendster, people who made posts on their Plurks to greet me. SUPER COOL! Much appreciated. :)

    Highschool Friends Guys :))
Me w/ the Girls. I was eating that's why mouth looks weird. JPAC

So I’m 19 now. I still feel 18. I don’t feel REALLY old, because I’ll never look old. Teh lulz, get what I mean? See in person, you’ll find out why. Daaang. Okay this is freaky but I sometimes think what if I’m in my 20s already? Would I be still be immature for that age? Enough. Shit like that shouldn’t be said in this blog, haha. :yay: Tamang trip lang dito. :) >-

First week in school was okay. I have 2 days of no classes, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Feels like I’m back to having a ‘term break’. Feels like I’m not taking school seriously with 2 days of no classes, hahaha.

It begins with ‘Monday murder’, 3 three-hour subjects! Photography, Philippine Design and History of Arts and Design 2. I don’t like the third one, it’s HARD. I wish I got the prof I had in the first HARTDS1 subject last term, we didn’t do ANYTHING major except report on that which is OK for me. Ugh. I don’t wanna do art activities and all that shit on a ‘lecture’-ish subject. I just don’t feel the prof on that subject at all. K, gotta stop, she might get here and read this and THEN fail me. The good thing is, I have the prof in our History of Arts in Philippine design, woohoo! Okay, should I expect that he will not let us do a lot this time again? Or not.

Next is ‘Terror Thursday’, Computer Graphics subject (3 hours) in the mornings with my friends BUT I’m scared of the subject… sort of? :| The prof seems nice but I’ve heard a lot from her. :| Rawr. Our first HW was to make a mask out of photos SHE provided, thought it’d be easy but I haven’t conceptualized ANYTHING up to now. And to think this is Computer Graphics, Photoshop! I’ve been using the damn thing for 3-4 years almost and just coming up with a mask design is hard for me. :| WHYYYYYY?!?! Fail! After that I have my Color Rendering class, the prof is okay but … you know, the type that expects a lot, makes us do a lot of HARD things. This is hard for me, cause I can’t draw. Haha. Neither color well. I hope to learn & pass. And the materials are SO expensive, boo. The prof screams and yells at our class when explaining, he doesn’t come off as scary, but funny instead. My friend who was under this prof last term was even surprised that some of my classmates like this professor.

‘Friday freehand’. I only have one class and its Freehand, where we are majorly required to draw. The prof made us draw anything so he can assess us, or something. I drew a scene from the park (it ended up looking like a drawing from a Grade 1 student), a cellphone (Nokia 5610, which was badly rendered, IMO, but I was happy with the out come, LULZ), and.. a Chuck Taylor shoe (supposedly MY Converse shoe, rendered badly again). I feel that I’m the only one who needs serious attention to being tutored how to draw starting from the very basics. Huhu, Anna you’re such a loser. :hmph: Everyone has experience with doodling, semi-okay rendering and perspective. I hope I learn! Or I’ll go on LOA, HAHA! I kid.

Lastly, is ‘Saturday service’. One class which is NSTP. Okay I thought it’d be so-so. But it’s hard.. I feel that it’ll be hard. Our first homework is either take photos on how we view poverty (that would be an easy way out IF I didn’t have much to do on my other subjects, but I’m scared to go to poverty driven areas, too, which will be a problem) or write a essay reflection on poverty. I think I’ll go with writing an essay instead. I probably won’t have time to go out and take stellar photos of people in such areas where poverty exists.

I feel stupid getting a Monday schedule. I forgot to put into consideration I have Saturday classes while encoding my schedule. So I have Sunday-class next day-2 day break after. Frustrating, but I’ll get used to it, eventually.

That’s all for tonight, I’m too draggy and sleepy. Hopefully tomorrow will be dedicated to conceptualizing a digital mask for my Computer Graphics subject due this Thursday. *yawns* Bye for now! :yay:

Wordcamp Philippines: Are You One of Us?
    July 17, 2008   30 comments
Post categories: Domain Talk / Life / Photos / School / WordPress

WordCamp Philippines After reading Joni’s post about the upcoming WordCamp Philippines 2008 organized by the Mindanao Bloggers this September 06, 2008, I just had to do my research.

I found out that this event is going to be held at my school, De La Salle – College of St. Benilde (Taft Avenue, Manila) at the Augusto – Rosario Gonzales Theater (which is located on the 5th floor of the main building, if I may add). And even more cooler, the event day falls under my term break! Perfect timing, great! Hahaha, so without any further hesitation I looked for the registration link and poof I was on my way to getting to an event that’s all about WordPress! Web Developing as well, hahaha!

I invited some of my friends to attend as well, I hope they will come! As much as I love to go to the event, I wouldn’t want to learn all these new stuff alone. May I encourage you, then? And just in case you, my dear reader, is curious.. Non-WordPress users can also come, Non-Bloggers can come as well! But where do you fit in? If you’re a web developer, the event is also going to tackle on Web Developing stuff so there you go. :P

According to the site, here’s their tentative topics to be discussed:

I know it sounds so geekish of me, but I cannot wait to learn new things about those! I am 100% sure it’s going to help me in my course sooner or later. :D September 6 is the big day, hope to see some of my regular visitors on that day! :) It’s also a way to meet up with you guys, haha! ;;)

Oh, oh!! I heard Matt Mullenweg, the creator of WordPress is going to be there!!! Lol. Geekery moment!11!111!!!

I hope this event won’t be as boring as Graphika Manila ’07. Sorry to say but it really bore me. Okay at first but me and my friend couldn’t wait to get out. But I wanted to see the presentation of this one graphic design company who was responsible for Pupil’s Set Me Apart music video so I stayed behind when my friend left early, rofl. I can’t even remember the name of the company anymore — screw me. No, I don’t know if I’m going to attend GM ’08.

I barely attend blog gatherings on real life so this’ll be my very first! Hoping to have fun.. and be supported with my friends and *cough*Blockmates, school friends*cough* since it’s gonna be held on our school.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the lovely sponsors *drumroll*

    On Reading & Driving

Sheesh, I never thought I would ever say this but.. I MISSED MY DOMAIN! Not many people have noticed but my site’s been off the map for a DAY! =)) Okay, actually only 2 people noticed it and came up to me and told me about it. Anne Kate and Mary, thanks for the concern. Heh. I thought it would take longer than what my new domain host said (4 days then changed to 7-10 days) but the problem was with me not giving authorization to my old domain host (GoDaddy) to start the transfer. Good thing I tinkered around with the site’s Domain Manager or this would take longer. I don’t know if I’d be able to hold up to that.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer I was supposed to talk about my driving lessons and my “Twilight” reading experience before my domain went kaput. Yes you got that right, I just rode the Twilight/Edward Cullen/Stephenie Meyer fan bandwagon! Never thought I would be sucked into this kind of addiction. In every single blog I go to, at least 5 of them mentions the damned book and “Edward Cullen”, I don’t even know what’s so special with him, until I read the book 3 days ago. Actually I already had a copy of Twilight last February but only got to read it this month because my friend who borrowed it returned it just recently (if you’re my friend at Twitter, you might’ve read my smallish rant about her  ). Moving on.. I read the book, surprisingly I finished it in a day! I normally finish reading a book within a month, if I’m busy or bombarded with school works. But I can finish a book in 3 weeks if I’m really not doing anything. :P Slow reader, I am. As much as possible I try to grasp whatever it is that I’m reading so I can picture it out easily on my mind, lol, weirdo. A lot of things pretty much surprised me while reading Twilight:

  • Robert Pattinson’s exactly the right guy I pictured while reading the book, and that was even before I seriously did my research on Twilight the movie.
  • The book is full of words like “ice”, “cold”, “icy”, “stone” and “eyes”. Hahaha, eyes y’all! Now I’m all “eyes-mode”. Every “eye-staring” scene and event in the movie makes the butterflies on my stomach fly.. or something like that, haha. EYES EYES EYES!! ;) ) I would so melt if a guy would stare directly to me, gahd.
  • I can relate with the main character (Bella) on the parts where she and Edward first meet.. Ayii. Paranoia rules our minds

As much as possible, I’m not going to indulge myself into drooling at Robert Pattinson nor the making of the movie (yet I was watching ‘making of Twilight’ shooting scenes last night  ) clips I find online. Who knows? Maybe the movie will make me depressed because they didn’t include every happening/event/scene in the book. Besides, don’t movies always do that? :| Call me bad but I downloaded the whole ebook of the series. After reading the sneak peek off the next book found just a couple of pages after Twilight, I felt the urge to want more of what’s going to happen next. Don’t worry I haven’t started reading the ebook just yet. Somehow, the feeling of holding a book in my hands while reading makes it worthwhile to read MORE.

My last purchased books (last February 2008 with my friend at Powerbooks Robinsons Ermita) consists of 3 books. Namely from Chuck Palahnuik’s Invisible Monsters, Haruki Murakami’s After Dark and Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight. Other books I have that I bought pretty much a long time ago BUT unread are J.K Rowling’s HP & The Deathly Hallows, Mitch Albom’s For One More Day (oh, this I borrowed from a friend still unreturned, hehe) and Paulo Coelho’s Veronika Decides To Die (Yeah I’m aware I put it as one of my fave books on my Friendster/Facebook profiles but I only read a few pages off it and would really like to continue soon). Before going back to school, I must read at least 3 books, HAHA. Let’s hope I accomplish that before school starts, I have 2 weeks left.

[edit] There’s an official Trailer out for the movie, OH MY GOD! I get goosebumps every single time I watch the trailer. Fucking crazy I tell ya! Edward Cullen.. Robert Pattinson.. Those eyes.. those moments.. MELT ALERT. [/edit]

DRIVING *drumroll* ATTN: I RECENTLY GOT INTO A DRIVING ACCIDENT, I CRASHED THE CAR AT THE NEAREST TREE AS SOON AS WE LEFT OFF!
Just playing! IDK, DID YOU LAUGH AT THAT? I must be pretty fucked up right this second to think it would be funny if I crash myself while learning to drive. :???: But thankfully, I haven’t! I started my driving lessons last Sunday (that makes it yesterday) morning, we tried it for an hour first to see if I’m really interested, and yea, I am interested. So we continued it today.. up to the next 7 days. Hopefully I’ll be good at driving and knowledgeable after 10 days, just in time for school. ;) ) Driving is fun. Yes. Seriously, driving IS fun. If only I could learn everything in just 1 session I would be so glad but unfortunately I’m only human so I have to practice more. Mom’s been very supportive all the way, since she’s always with me everytime I go inside the car I’ll be driving. My dad however, is pretty doubtful about it. He even laughed at me when I told him I got my Student Permit and going to have driving lessons. He doesn’t take me seriously, probably because I’m short and I don’t look like I’m capable of driving or even taking responsible in owning a car. And our family driver is not talking to me! God, what am I supposed to think about that? Should I be paranoid about that? Gah. But my mom says that I shouldn’t mind him if he’s acting that way. By the way, I don’t have my own car yet! Hahaha. I’m using the car the instructor provided, and it’s Manual. Same car that Dok Sergio of Pupil drives, hee. ;) )

Driving may be fun.. and an awesome thing to learn through summer. But I’m having problems with driving. I get tired easily from it, and I’m driving not more than 20 kph! Ugh, maybe I’ll get used to it soon. We’ve only drove around my place for the past two days and so far I fear the following:

  • Making left and right turns on busy main roads (I’m too conscious about the other cars getting pissed at me for being so slow. :| )
  • Doing reverse. I can’t see clearly whatever’s on the back, unfortunately.
  • Starting the car after doing a full on-brake. I’m having problems with the clutch and gas pedals. Told ya I have bad footwork. :( If I get it correct at one point, time comes when I fuck up all over again.
  • Driving where there are a lot of cars!

Hopefully my fears will be gone soon. I am interested in learning but fear just takes over me sometimes. Hello, driving’s the coolest, awsomest (sp?) thing someone learns! And the feeling of driving fast is just HEAVENLY! Though it might lead to a closer meetup with Death. Yeah, I’m being negative now, am I? There’s a part of me thinking that having a responsibility over owning a car to your own is a hassle because of Gas. Gah, I feel such an adult talking about this stuff, now I wanna be a kid again. :( Suddenly stuff like TIN, BIR, SSS, etc. are being fed to my face. Like the time when me and my mom went to LTO Paranaque to get myself a Student Permit, I also had to apply for a TIN number which is like an adult thing. Gah! And now my mom wants me to get a Voters ID soon. I DON’T WANNA VOTE! Guess what? She got mad at me when I told her I’m never getting a Voters ID. But I really don’t want to. I’m an ignorant to politics and I plan to stay that way. Sorry to anyone who’ll be offended. Pour in the comments of “You keep on complaining how our country never progressed through the years but here you are being the main problem itself”, hahah I wouldn’t mind. :)) It’s true, I do complain but not as much as those people on TV do.

That’s all for now. Wish me luck on my next coming driving lessons. ;;)
