  • Answered new submitted questions, check them out here.
  • Updated link exchanges.
  • Updated hosting information.
  • I won’t be around for 3 weeks (or more) because I brought my laptop to the shop to have its keyboard fixed (and possibly replaced). So I guess my site’s on hiatus! But I won’t be putting a huge hiatus sign, “you can’t come in because I’m on a break” kind of graphic.. I’ll just let this be. =)) Spam me with meaningful comments, alrighty? XD I have access to the net at home, still, but using another computer. It’ll be hard to surf as well so might as well wait for it to get fixed. In short, I will be online only to check up on stuff. :D No more 8+ hours on the computer, that’s for sure.

Actually right now I’m at the school computer lab, I decided to update from here. Oh how I love WordPress. And if I get new questions or link exchange requests I can answer and add them using any PC. LOL.

I think this could be fun for me.. because most of the time I spend is just being in front of the computer all day and even when I get home from school, it’s straight to the laptop — ADDICT MUCH?! With my laptop out of the picture, I feel that my schedule just suddenly opened up and now I can do something else because the computer won’t be a distraction to me. ;;)

Ex: I’m by the bed reading a book and the computer is just on my left side..

    Me: *reads a book*
    *pauses*
    *looks at the computer*

…computer just sits there doing nothing

Me: *looks at it and decides to go online instead but she has to read half or least 1/4 of the book*

    ANOTHER DAY, BOOK, ANOTHER DAY!!!

So there. Oh when I bought the laptop to the Apple Store yesterday afternoon I got a chance to check out the bookstore and record shop.. sadly the ones in my wishlist (see previous entry) are not in the bookstore. Oh well, so I guess I really have to get them books at NBS.

Howeverrr.. when I dropped by at M1, they have a big sale going on for series DVDs, movie DVDs and some VCDs (not sure about music CDs). I tried to remember titles of albums I wanted to download later  on (use my brother’s PC.. but nah) but I forgot most of them. On the top of my head I remember Switchfoot’s Greatest Hits album (..really now, they already have a greatest hits album..) and the Japanese Import Bjork CDs, which I REALLY wanted to buy even if I already have soft copies of her albums. The Bjork CDs have really nice artwork layout and design, most of the albums I saw were eyecatching too that’s why I wanted to buy them. Another day, another day. =))

When I went to check out the DVD sale section, I saw season DVDs of shows such as House, Desperate Housewives, Superman (movie), etc.. and movie DVDs, some I already have at home. But what caught my eye is the DVD set of Smallville Season 6. ;;) the DVD set comes with this illustrated guide book as well (yay!) It’ll also be good to add this to my box DVD collection of the show, even if I started collecting (originals) from season 4. :D

Hmm.. so I got a new ‘gadget’ on Wednesday night.. :) Click here. To add, my problem with the spell checker feature is now fixed and I cannot Plurk properly using this device, ugh. But I can still check my email so I guess it’s useful enough as a substitute to Chris.

See you guys after 3 weeks! I’ll try to return comments too when I get some free time.

[edit] I update regularly (as much as possible, I have to :P ) on my Photoblog, take a look for updates too. :) [/edit]

    First Week

Hello guys! First week of school is over and there’s 13 meetings to go. I hope I’m right cause from what I heard during orientations of the subjects I attended the past week (the subjects that run for 3 hours max) we only meet for 14 times throughout the term. As for the general subjects which goes for 3x a day, I don’t know how many more sessions are left but probably a lot. I have Algebra for the general subject, I take it 3x a week and I have lab class every Thursday. Meh. It’s okay, it’s okay.. take it, pass it, move on to the pre-req subject, after that it’s OVER. Konting tiis nalang.

Even if it means I’ll be left behind. My friends are advancing their way and I’m left behind (I was able to go along with them on the previous terms) but since I’m taking a subject again I couldn’t add another subject, there’s going to be a conflict with the number of units.

Sorry if that was frustrating, it was not that necessary but I just wanted to let that out. ;) How’s everyone’s first day of school? Mine was terrible. Yes, yes. I got sick the night before school started (insert regrets here). I got colds, cough, fever and sorethroat. I still have them now. I wasn’t able to attend my first day of PE as well but I went to school in the afternoon (I’m scared I’ll miss out a lot of things on those 2 other subjects if ever I absent myself). It’s a good thing that I did went to school in the afternoon, 2nd class (supposedly), Algebra, they already had lessons right after the orientation. And for my 2nd class, Professional Practice ( :???:  ) the professor grouped the class. I wished we were grouped by the people I knew instead of counting off. . Another business kind of subject, I’m sick of this! :hmph:

So far everything’s going smoothly, except for my “Professional Practice” class. I don’t feel comfortable on that class for some reason. It’s not my groupmates, just .. something. The rest of the classes are super duper OK for me. Oh yeah, except for the part that most of my professors are strict with the attendance now. FAIL! =)) I guess I just miss my schedule, “way of life” last term. Just proves how much of a lazy ass I am. :P

BTW, during my 2 hours break, my friends and I dropped by the local National Bookstore near our school.. I wanted to buy books but I didn’t have enough cash in me. I think most books I wanted to buy were from Paulo Coelho. Here’s my wish list for books, haha. I bet I won’t even get to read them until Summer vacation. I still have one book that I haven’t read, The Host by Stephenie Meyer. =))

    Eleven Minutes Paulo Coelho
    The Alchemist Paulo Coelho
Like The Flowing River Paulo Coelho
    Lovely Bones Alice Sebold
The Time Traveler’s Wife Audrey Niffenegger (when I read the synopsis, it reminded me of the book I read not too long ago)
The Catcher in the Rye J.D Salinger (saw a friend reading this and the context seems pretty eye catching. )

Oh well, soon I’ll have you in my possession! Hopefully. :)
    Later days!

    Impenetrable packaging issues

HURRAH! SO-STELLAR HAS REACHED 10K HITS! :yay:

Wala lang. I was browsing around Amazon a while ago and noticed that they’ve invented a new packaging system which looks hella easier than the normal packaging that products have. They call it the “Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging”, it’s the first thing you’ll see when you go to their homepage.

    Show ▼

I guess I’m one of the many who can relate to this kind of thing. Especially when I got a new HDD for my birthday 2 months ago, the packaging was really a pain in the rear to open. I even got paper cuts cause of the plastic packaging was too hard to pry open, even with the use of a cutter! Took me more than an hour to open it actually, and it wasn’t fully open.. I was only able to cut a smallish horizontal opening and I had to get my hands inside the package to get the product itself. In the end I got a lot of paper cuts and finger cuts. (lol, is there such a thing?) If you read the ‘letter’ at Amazon, I can definitely relate to the ‘Wrap Rage’ term, a lot.

So far, the Frustration-Free packaging feature by Amazon can be found on selected Toys that they have on sale. I hope they implement this on their gadgets as well, especially on products with packaging like the one on my HDD. :P As if I’ll get to buy any gadgets at Amazon.. too expensive and shipping will definitely cost an arm and a leg. Better keep on wishing for a trip to the US to personally shop for gadgets (since they’re cheaper than here in the Philippines).

Have I told you that my latest hangouts on the net are Amazon and eBay? :P Ever since two weeks ago I’ve been looking at some books at Amazon then at eBay to see if they have auctions for it, y’know.. cheaper way to get those ‘wants’. Jullia got me in to go eBay mode again. Sadly the local eBay in my area doesn’t have any of those books on auction. I was also eying the first edition of Heroes graphic novel at both sites to see which one is cheaper, and after sometime of research I gave in and went o buy the one I saw at eBay. Later I figured out that the reason why the one at Amazon is expensive is because it’s the hardbound copy. I don’t really need a hardbound copy and besides I don’t like them in the first place so I went ahead with a softbound cover of the book. Last word I got from the seller was the tracking number of the package so I’m really excited to receive it! Been a long time since I’ve done any transactions online. If only I can sell stuff internationally again that would be fab, I’d love to save up PayPal money again. But because I don’t have exactly a lot of time right now to go back and forth to the post office, that would have to wait.

But I really need money right now. I’m starting to be POOR because of buying art materials (specifically materials for my FREHAND classes) which eventually goes to waste because the prof doesn’t accept it and I’m forced to re-do everything again. Right now I’m procrastinating.. end up doing it when it’ll be too late. I’ve never had financial problems like this before. I get too shy to ask money from my parents now. :|

I also have to plan/find a good place to shoot within this month. For my photography class, our final project is to create a coffee table book consisting of 6 (minimum) photographs, but I believe I can do up to 10. Problem is, I don’t have a definite place to do a shoot. Suggestions, guys? If possible (but you can totally ignore it and just suggest away) I hope it matches my ‘criteria’.

  • Not too far from the city
  • Cheap entrance (someone suggested me at Plurk a place where the entrance is just PHP 5, lol. But I guess I can stretch my entrance budget to 200-350, something like that)
  • Photo-taking is allowed (what’s the use if the place is beyond infinity in terms of beauty but I won’t be allowed to ‘capture’ it, right? There ARE places like that.. I just don’t know where exactly. ;) )
  • There are flowers, lots of them. Or a nature vibe.. like really pretty trees and the like.
  • This marks the end of my post, lol. Oh .. for some reason I wanted to plug my wishlist, hahaha. IDK, maybe if someone who has a lot of money drops by my site and may be in the mood to be generous, please buy me something! Or or, a domain name will do.

In case you might be wondering, I’m not moving out *if* I receive/buy a domain. It looks like Google is never going to give back my PR 3, I have to find out another alternative to earn money through blogging. Wah.

    I tried so hard
    and got so far
    but in the end
    it doesn’t really matter

    Finals
    August 22, 2008   13 comments
Post categories: Books / Life / School

For the past three weeks I’ve been worried sick about myself regarding how my performance on may ORALCOM1 finals is going to turn out. It wasn’t a normal experience for me wherein I would have to just sit down for an hour and answer a test paper, instead I would present a skill in class and demonstrate it. Thankfully, things went OK (at least, for me) last Wednesday (the day of my presentation) and I was able to present it even though I was nervous and stuttered at times. I demonstrated in class ways how you can fold your fancy table cloth napkin, originally I would’ve presented 8 but I only got to 6 because I took up too much of my allotted time, haha!

My *unknown* crush attended class on that day, probably not to watch me but to help his friend, lol. Ugh, again with the crushes?! I’m not gonna say that this is the last time, clearly it won’t be! :P Yeah so he was there, I didn’t look at him but I felt really embarrassed while going through the whole demonstrating thing, grr. As soon as I was finished, I packed my things and went back to my seat. That night, my friend from that class said I did good, and the professor said ‘very good’ after my presentation. Gah, I was so distracted and busy with packing I didn’t hear the prof say that. At least he heard it and then he let me know about it. :)) Here’s me hoping to get a good final grade on that subject, t’was good while it lasted. Seriously, I loved ORALCOM, not because of ….. and ….. ;)

Now I’m done with that, I’m insanely worried with my DESPRIN2 final project, our own self portrait *insert faint horror screams here*. Never been good with drawing, I swear to God. Okay, so I got to accomplish all 10 required plates on that subject throughout the term but the problem is all of the things I drew on those plates are not people, human or persons but objects and sceneries. I’m not good with drawing people! :( And now I have to draw myself. Shit. Bet I’ll mess it up, but I’m ready for it! The self portraits are to be drawn on 1/4 illustration boards, I bought 4 just incase I mess the first one up. I really hope I find a way to make a decent output. My hands are not coordinated well with my imaginative brain, you know.

August is about to end and September is about to start once again. The -ber months are just around the corner!! Ick, I’m gonna turn a year older again. You know, guys. While reading Breaking Dawn (yes, finally finished reading Eclipse, I’m now reading Breaking Dawn!) .. I never really paid much attention to age (cause after all it’s just a number, right? ) until Bella started making a big deal of it. I wrote a long entry about my “age” issues on my Multiply account (just sharing) and here’s an excerpt from it:

    - 19 seems like a BIG age difference from 18.. same with turning 20, at 21, 22.. and so on.
    - I think I wanna be 18 forever.
    - 19 seems TOO inappropriate for me. I don’t look 19 at all, do I?! I don’t.
    - Damn you Bella Swan Cullen for making age a big deal

I don’t think I’m spoiling anybody here because of that.. we all know that Bella wants to be a vampire so she can stay the same, physically, so that it’ll be the same with dear Edward.

I don’t know if there’s going to be any change at my little life once the clock strikes 12 at MY day. :| Better or worse? Or still the same? *shrugs off* Dunno what I would do on my birthday, good thing I don’t have any classes on the day where my birthday falls, lucky me! :))

During our upcoming term break though, I’m planning to practice drawing (cause I have 2 subjects that are focused on drawing and color rendering), or maybe continue my driving lessons (which were stopped while I was already halfway through it.. only 4 days left and I could’ve passed and learned how to drive by now), or maybe go out of the country. But on the 6th of September, I’m definitely going back to school, not to study but to attend WordCamp Philippines!

For the meantime, I want to pass this term, receive 3.0 marks on my subjects, be a Dean’s Lister. Hahaha, dream on! Well, I might receive 3.0′s, but there would ALWAYS be a subject where I’ll receive a grade lower than 3.0, I’m sure of it. I’m used to it, too.

    Back to Forks?

I’m being patient for the Eclipse to end so I can witness the Breaking Dawn
Warning: This post might contain spoilers for Eclipse.
    :)

Breaking Dawn Last Tuesday I bought my copy of Breaking Dawn at the bookstore just beside my school’s main building (DLS-CSB). I carried the book, along with my sketchpad and coloring materials all throughout Vito Cruz and the SDA building back and forth ALL day. I never thought the book was THAT heavy until I put it with my other drawing materials and carried it. Also, I went home late because my friends and I had to shoot a top music videos countdown kind of video for our class next day. Imagine how much of a hassle it was to carry around that plastic bag with a heavy book, haha. so the short and short of that experience was .. I should’ve bought Breaking Dawn the day after that, Wednesday.

I don’t really regret anything. Actually, I’m pretty happy that I did bought that book on that day. Who knows, maybe it’ll be sold out as soon as the week ended? And if I didn’t bought Breaking Dawn, I wouldn’t be motivated to get back to reading Eclipse after 2 months! Hahahaha, I am INSANELY a slow reader. I just started reading again Friday night, I was in chapter 3 then.. now I’m at chapter 20! If you must know, yes that is an accomplishment and an improvement on my part. =))

Oh yeah, Breaking Dawn is still on the plastic with the receipt. I have never opened it nor removed it from the packaging ever since I got it. I promised myself that I’ll only get the right to open it if and only if I finish reading Eclipse. :P Probably I’m the last person who’s going to read this.. well, not including the group of people who’s yet to read Twilight or the earlier books.

Lemme share you something: I wasn’t anticipating the launch of BD here in the Philippines. I didn’t notice August 4 came in this early and I depended on them to find out how’s the storyline and stuff. I didn’t care. I wasn’t that addicted, hell, I haven’t finished Eclipse in a span of weeks like my friends did. I read spoilers and stuff, it did not bug me, not once. :P Perfectly fine with spoiling. I’m like “Oh, okay, Breaking Dawn’s finally here, cool.”

Until one of my ‘Twilight Recruits’ (some of my friends who got hooked to Twilight and Edward Cullen cause of ME) asked me if I have the book and I told her I didn’t have it yet.. And I said I’m not that excited about it at all, not because I was discouraged by the outcome (I wasn’t) but ..just not. She then said this:

You’re the one who recommended me this book and you’re the one less excited about the new book? Are you crazy?

    That made me laugh. =))

Eclipse On with Eclipse.. So far so good, I think I’m past by the boring parts already. No offense to “Team Jacob”, if there is one. Jacob’s point of view really bores me, its like reading New Moon again on that one chapter when one of the seniors of ‘Team Jacob’ was telling a story about their kind. I don’t know if he goes on to my I could care less list or Must read more about this person list. I like him in parts where he and Bella talks, and when Edward has something to do with Jacob.. But when it comes to story telling about Jacob’s kind, it gets really boring which sucks. Well, I’m 8 chapters away from the ending so I’ve yet to finalize my thoughts on Jacob. For now, 50/50! :)) I don’t want to storytell any more, I might spoil you and I’m not really good with sharing stories about books I read. I tend to just visualize and forget about explaining it.

It’s the 2nd week of August and there’s 4 weeks left of schooling for me before the first trimester of my Sophomore year ends! We’ve been insanely busy with ‘activities’ the past weeks. I’m sort of confused why we’re not being dumped with projects, yet we have a lot of activities instead. Methinks ‘activities’ is the new word for ‘projects’.

Schedule encoding was last week. I’m happy that I got the schedule I wanted, and I’m happy that I am sure that I have classmates that I know in all subjects. :) I’m parting ways with my usual companions in classes in 3 subjects, but I hope I won’t regret it. I mean, I hope I don’t get sucky professors and stuff. What I do know is, I got the ‘bad’ professor for COLREND1 according to my friend — well thanks for the heads up, man. But I’m with my usual companions on that subject, so we’ll stick together like glue!

I’ve this thing to demonstrate for my ORALCOM2 class, it’s for my Speech to Demonstrate, which will be our Finals exam for the said subject. We were to choose skills and/or ideas to demonstrate in class and I chose to demonstrate the different types (kinds?) of table napkin folding. Y’know, the ones used in fancy restaurants, not the tissue napkins, haha! So there, I’ve been looking for semi-complicated to complicated folds online and in YouTube as well but so far I’ve only found intermediate level folding videos. Would you know a better source site for this? Perhaps with video tutorials?

I’m trying my best to learn as fast as possible, I think right now I know around 3-4 already. But the demonstration should go on for 8-10 minutes.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Here’s me hoping for a smooth flow week ahead of me.
