Another “last hurrah” kind of entry up here, folks!
Two weeks ago was quite the final stretch of business (I meant “busy-ness” not business like work-work kind of business, get it?) for me. It was the week that the event we planned for about 2 months was finally going to launch. Our class exhibit entitled Wal*Art: A Multimedia Exhibit of Fresh Ideas launched last Thursday at the LRI Design Plaza in Makati.
Lol, it looks like our exhibit was very deserted on these photos. Don’t get discouraged, this was taken during the 2nd night of the exhibit and not a lot of people went (out of 18 exhibitors only around 8-10 people went, as far as I know). Maybe it’s because I arrived late (past 7PM) that’s why it seemed like it’s so empty; people went in there a few hours earlier. Or not. ;))
It was one heck of an experience for me and now I am just glad that we’re done with it. Not that I regret anything but it was really stressful and very time consuming. Of course that kind of reaction is expected for every event management. But! In the end.. it all worked out great and people attended and enjoyed our exhibit. Okay, yeah, that sounds cliche but it’s the troof! Everyone was satisfied with the turnout. We couldn’t really ask for more, could we?
I’m glad that I didn’t have other conflicting subjects this term or I wouldn’t have the opportunity to participate as much as I did. There’s this other class that’s a killer (to my made-up “schedule”, anyway) but I accomplished the requirements on time, I think, and hopefully I will pass that class with a decent grade.
You know what? I just realized that in this whole experience, it was the “behind the scenes” moments of shaping and creating this exhibit in the first place that seemed to matter.
Go back to two weeks ago, when we made the mounts for the exhibit at one of our classmate’s house. That was fun, for me, because.. because.. just because! π Oh, here’s a reason: The food they had for us were delicious. π (You would know what I’m talking about if you’re my classmate, lol) The exhibit itself didn’t seem to be for us, but for the visitors/audience/people to go and see. Also, it gave us the opportunity to get to know each other a little better aside from what we already know in a classroom setting. Not everyone knew each other and I only knew about 5 people from that class myself before this whole exhibit planning started. I still get confused with these two people in my class up to now but that’s nothing Facebook search can’t do. Haha.
Before this gets to a sappy blog entry and I start talking about whatever else happened prior to the grand opening and get nostalgic about it (even tho it’s only been, what, 2 weeks? HAHAHA).. Feast your eyes on these photos! Photos attract attention more, anyway, haha.
Artworks that I liked
I forgot to take a photo of some of the 3D work that I like such as that robot DJ (which most of my friends thought I made, hahaha!) and 3D bar (image). Tsk.
Milk and cereal box mounts
These are the stuff we did two weeks ago before the exhibit at one of our classmate’s house along with the delicious meals in between. Andrew and I were in charge of designing the milk box (he did the cow and Van did some enhancements on it and I did the typography/text part). Van did the cereal box. I like how both of these turned out especially the names we came up for it.
The cereal box has graphic design works on the back and as expected, Fresh Film should have photos at the back. Should be obvious by now, yeah? Hahaha. Oops, pardon my face on the photo.. it’s the only decent photo I have w/ our box. That’s my dad on the left photo looking at the photos. These were taken hours before the start of day 2, so when we got there it was quite a mess. Embarrassed, a little, yep. We dropped by the place before they brought me to school. Dad wanted to have a look-see of my exhibit and see where the money I asked from him went, hahaha.
PS: He wanted me to pose like that. π
See if you can spot my work on the cereal box, too! Also, there’s one artwork there posted on the cereal box that reminds me of Incubus.. try to guess. π Lastly, 4 works there are fave-worthies. Again, try to guess if you’re up to it which ones are they.
Me with my work
Is this part vain for you? Skip if you think so, lol. Thanks friends and dad for taking photos of me with my work. Proud moments indeed. :)) Hey, it’s not everyday that I get to be a part of an exhibit. Who knows, maybe this is my first and last exhibit.. so better stock up on proof that *I* was, indeed, a part of this. π Middle photo is my fave, it looks like a paparazzi shot. Haha! Too bad I don’t have a hi-res version since I just nicked the photo from Facebook. Screw these social networking sites for lowering down the quality of photos.
The last photo is heavily post processed, heh. It’s not meant to be a photo for this blog entry but I found out that it’s my only decent photo with the Pucca work so there you go. Can I just say that I wore DLM’s “I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good” shirt and that nobody cared?? Seriously though. Maybe I just didn’t have Potter addicts for friends who visited, lol. I love their shirt, I love THIS shirt. π I thought my smile looked rather big and/or sticky in these photos.. hahaha. TBH, it felt awkward trying to smile at that time.. good thing it didn’t really ended up looking awkward. Or it did?
People photos (aka photos w/ friends and people who were there)
That’s it. It’s 8AM and I started writing this around 5AM. What made this longer is because while I am in the middle of typing this, I have just started on post-processing some of the photos here, hahaha. I think I’ve said enough but it’s never too tiring to say thanks for taking a few hours from your busy lives and spending it by coming to our exhibit and checking out the work of these 18 MMA students. π
Okay, I’m going back to bed now. Long day awaits!
PS: I’m partially tired of this WordPress theme. I’m aiming to make a new one, coded by me, sometime soon during my (hopefully) indefinite break. Need to stretch those PHP muscles and get my groove on coding again.
Photos used here are mine unless there are no watermarks. Other photos are from Czarina Pedrozo, Beverly Kho, and Jeanne Villegas.
